Now that it’s October, I’m really starting to embrace the idea of fall! (I know, I know…just a couple of weeks ago I was wanting to cling to summer…it takes me a bit to come around) I can’t wait for caramel apples, bonfires, pumpkin carving, Halloween (looking at the calendar makes me realize I better get started on my costume!) and the continuation of the football season (obviously one of THE BEST parts of fall)
From a fashion perspective, fall is one of my favorite seasons. The weather isn’t too hot or too cold and you basically get to wear a bunch of your favorite pieces and then layer those with more of your favorite accessories and maybe even a cute coat to keep warm! #score
Some of my key go to pieces for fall are anything plaid, riding boots, baggy cocoon sweaters (you know the ones that are open and one size too big and cozy and you can throw them on top of almost anything!?), giant blanket and or infinity scarves (the bigger the better), and skirts and dresses. What! What’s that you say? Skirts and dresses!? Yes! Skirts and dresses. Now, during the warmer days in fall you can easily wear a long sleeved dress and boots or flats no problem. When the weather starts to get a bit colder however, my go to fashion weapon to extend the wearability of my more summery pieces is a good pair of black tights.
This weekend was a bit shocking in Cincinnati, especially after a warm 90 degree week spent in Florida. Temperatures dipped into the 50s, and for two days the sun was nowhere to be found! (Side note: These pictures were taken on the one day when the sun decided to grace us with its presence…just an FYI for all the observant readers out there who notice the sunlight in these pictures)
I combatted the dreary weather with a fall outfit made up of some of my favorite pieces mentioned above. (Crumby weather is nothing a good outfit can’t fix, am I right!?) I also had to reach for a pair of my trustee tights in order to make wearing a skirt not seem so inappropriate. Breaking out one of my plaid button ups and tucking it into a skater skirt with some tights and flats got me pretty excited to put together more outfits this fall! It also gave me a craving for candy corn and apple cider…weird, huh?
Skirt: Lush (on sale and under $25!), Flannel: Gap Factory (old, similar style here), Tights: BP, Flats: Tory Burch (also lusting after these and these), Bracelers: Alex and Ani, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: J. Crew Factory (old, similar here and here), Sunglasses: Ray-ban (similar here)
Special shoutout to my boyfriend, Ted, who is getting pretty darn good at this whole blog photography thing! (…When he isn’t making me laugh uncontrollably and capturing moments like the one down below. Wind + lipgloss = frustration, am I right ladies!?)
Planning outfits is one of my favorite things to do. Heck, sometimes I do it…
