Holiday DIY: Peppermint Body Scrub

I don’t know about you, but my skin rivals that of an alligator during the winter months. So not cute! In a desperate attempt to help my dry skin situation, I turn to lots of exfoliators and various moisturizing products.

Recently, my mom, a super-crafty-do-it-yourself kind of person which I love about her, suggested we try a recipe she found for a peppermint body scrub. I was all for it! Let me tell you, the results were awesome and the recipe to make the scrub is about as easy as it gets! No seriously, bare minimum you need two ingredients, we just added a few for some holiday flair.

So, what do you need? Sugar and coconut oil. Yes, plain white sugar that you probably have lying around your house right now and some coconut oil. 2 cups of sugar and 1/4 cup of coconut oil (more if you like a more wet consistency- I’d say I used about 1/2-3/4 cup) mixed together in a bowl and BAM! There you have it. Body scrub. Add a few drops of peppermint scented essential oil and red food coloring and you have peppermint body scrub.( I wasn’t kidding when I said it was super easy!)

We packaged our scrub in mason jars which got me thinking how cute this would be to give out as a gift to friends and family! Home-made and totally useful.

Let me know if you try this out! My hands are definitely thanking me.
