It may be a few days into the New Year, but this past weekend I was lucky enough to celebrate Christmas for a second time #bonus Every year my family has my mom’s side over for an Italian dinner and gift exchange. (The meal is hands down my favorite meal of all time. I look forward to it every single year and I eat the leftovers every day for the next week. My dad’s tendency to cook for an army has its perks!)
Our “second Christmas” is never a very formal event by any means, but I always like the opportunity to get a little glam! This year I decided to rock my favorite go to color combination, black, white, and gold jewelry. What can I say, I’m a creature of habit! Instead of flats however, I decided to wear the nude strappy heels I wore on Christmas day to make the outfit a bit more dressy…and to make me not as short standing next to Ted.
I also added a red lip (…temporarily! Despite what T-Swift sings Ted is not a fan of the red lip classis thing) and a half-pony for some drama. I personally feel really powerful and sexy in a red lip, and while I don’t wear my hair like this often (okay, ever really!), I thought it was a fun way to have my hair out of my face while still looking like I put some effort into it (translation: I didn’t just throw it up in a messy bun which I was totally considering #teammessyhairdontcare
Pants (leggings, but better! buy HERE)// Top (LC Lauren Conrad via Kohl’s, old; buy similar HERE)//Polka Dot Mittens (soooo comfy and warm! Buy HERE)//Puffer Coat (Land’s End, buy similar HERE)//Heels (Buy HERE)//Purse (Kate Spade, old; buy similar options HERE, and HERE)//Red Lipstick (Buy HERE, also love THIS and THIS)
The best part, yes even better than the meat balls!, is taking time to set aside all our stress with work and life and just spend time together. I loved laughing and talking with everyone and I loved that my sister and I actually managed to get a picture together! (The past couple family events we kept forgetting!) And of course I made Ted pose for some as well!
I’m definitely wishing it could be Christmas every day, but I have tons of fun things I’m looking forward to doing in the new year! (Including those leftovers! #carbsfordays)
