Cincinnati gave me a harsh welcome back from my Florida vacation! I traded palm trees and sunshine for snow covered lawns and grey, dreary skies. In an attempt to turn a negative into a positive (I’m not at all a fan of snow!), I decided to brave the freezing temperatures in my new red coat! New clothes make everything better!
Funny story about this coat: My parents gave me a grey version for Christmas. I had already opened a grey coat from Ted and mentioned that I thought this coat would be really striking in red. Turns out my dad had originally picked it out in red, but my mom convinced him I wouldn’t wear it in that color (She’s right; I normally wouldn’t reach for a red coat. I’m trying to branch out, though! I’m starting to really like key pieces in bold colors) So, long story short, my parents exchanged the grey coat for this red one. How sweet was that!? Thanks for taking care of the hard part, mom and dad!
I wanted the red of the coat to stand out as much as possible, so I made sure to wear only black and white underneath. This windowpane top is ancient, I got it from Forever 21 for under $20, and was hiding in a drawer. I’m starting to reach for it more and more now that this print is getting popular again (This is why I have trouble getting rid of clothes! What if one day they’re all of a sudden cute and on trend, again!? #mollyproblems) On the bottom I just wore my trusty black Gap leggings and my black Hunter boots. I added a black bow in my hair for some playfulness, and I couldn’t resist a red lip!
While I’m loving this red coat, I can’t deny the fact that I’m looking ahead to warmer temperatures!
Planning outfits is one of my favorite things to do. Heck, sometimes I do it…
