Crop Top and Twisted Skirt

A couple of weeks ago, I went shopping for some new summer staples (also, if I’m being completely honest, I wanted some cute pieces to wear on vacation for blog posts). I was mostly looking for some new shorts and tank tops, but I ended up with a couple things I never thought I’d love as much as I do. Case in point, crop tops.

I was convinced that I could never pull off a crop top, and had therefore totally shrugged off the trend. So, how did this love affair begin? It all started in a Forever 21. I needed a shirt, other than my own, to try on with a pair of flowy shorts I was interested in. Cue endless rack of $6 crop tops that was right next to me. I grabbed one, not thinking anything of it, and continued to the dressing room.

The shorts ended up looking just as cute on me as they did on the hanger, SCORE! When I put the crop top on however, it was like a magical revelation. I can TOTALLY pull this off, it’s comfortable and affordable. I ended up buying 3 and the rest is history.

My go to outfit to make with my new favorite summer staple is to wear one with an asymmetrical, twist front, jersey cotton skirt (say that 5 times fast!) I got from, wait for it…the Charlotte Russe outlet. This was one of those accidental outfits I just threw on one day, and now am completely in love with it. I’m constantly looking for excuses to wear it. In fact, I wore it twice this past week in Outer Banks and I had no shame in my outfit repeating game!
