This post is something a little different for me. It’s not my usual favorites round-up, or Wedding Wednesday post, but lately I’ve really been more conscious about what I’m putting in my body.
Now, that being said, I’m not perfect and I’m also not a registered dietician, nor licensed/certified in any way regarding dietary advice. This is merely a peek into what I’ve been buying on my grocery trips lately, and what I tend to eat in a day. I think it’s fun to see what people eat, and what snacks or meals they enjoy (no, really…I watch videos dedicated to this sort of thing on Youtube all the time) because I don’t know about you, but sometimes I fall into ruts and I’m just not sure what to buy!
These are the things that have been finding their way into my grocery cart for the past couple of months!
What’s in My Grocery Cart
I’ve never been an early eater, so if I’m up early and heading into work, I’m just bringing some fruit with me (strawberries, pineapples, and blueberries are my favorite combo), and maybe a bar of some sort (KIND bars and Curate bars are my FAV!). If I have a bit more time, however, I love eggs. Peanut butter toast is also one of my go-to’s- it’s filling, and easy to make! (…and peanut butter is my favorite condiment, if it counts as a condiment..?)
My go-to meal lately has been a Boca meatless chicken patty (don’t knock them until you try them!) on a wheat bread round, and a small salad on the side. You should also try Boca veggie burgers minus the bun, with an egg on top…I think I ate one every night for a week straight. If I’m going to be at work, I will sometimes resort to a microwave meal (wah-wahhhh), but I find the Amy’s meals to be a good option! Amy’s has a variety of gluten-free and dairy free selections that make you feel a bit less guilty (…also dairy does not like me, so my stomach feels better about it, too!)
I think we can all agree that snacking is one of the places where it’s easy to fall off the health wagon. I’ve really trying to reach for un-processed foods such as fruits and veggies, over salty snacks like pretzels and chips. Instead of chips, I love almonds and also sweet peppers! They give you the crunch, without the calories and fat. If I can’t hold out any longer, and I need chips, I’ve been loving pop chips! The combo pack with sea salt and BBQ flavors is BOMB.
Lucky for me, pop has never been an issue, because I dislike anything carbonated. I’ve always only drank water…until I became a nurse. Now, I definitely enjoy the occasional cup of coffee. I love picking up Starbucks K-cups because they have a wide variety of flavors, and anything my Keurig can make is just so much easier than using a traditional coffee pot!
For My Sweet Tooth:
I would argue that I have the biggest sweet tooth of anyone I know (except maybe my dad..). Chocolate is my ultimate weakness, and I’ve never met a dessert that was too rich. Honestly, I try to keep sweet temptations out of the house all together, but this girl needs her sugar! (I really need to work on this!) Lately, I’ve been a total Halo Top addict! Is it healthy? Not exactly, but I’m all for a better alternative. Almond Dream Ice Creams is also a go-to for me, since dairy doesn’t love me as much as I love it…the almond toffee fudge flavor is sinful! Lastly, I love the Fiber One Brownies as a quick pick me up to have in my purse when I’m on the go!
