My Summer Reading List

Reading is one of my favorite past times. As a kid, I would get completely lost in books, and emerge hours later a changed person, with my eyes opened wider, a fuller heart, and my mind buzzing.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had as much time to read as I would like these past couple of months, curse you adult life!, but I’m making a promise to myself: I promise to make more time to read this summer.

In honor of this personal promise, I raided Target for some books I’ve been dying to read! I ended up with 5, which I think is a reasonable goal…heck, maybe I’ll breeze through these and be able to pick another 5! These are the titles are I’m starting with:

My Summer Reading List:

  1. Big Magic//Elizabeth Gilbert
  2. #Girlboss//Sophia Amoruso
  3. You Are A Badass//Jen Sincero (Confession: I’ve read this one, but it was so. freaking. good, I want to read it again!)
  4. Rising Strong//Brene Brown
  5. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up//Marie Kondo

I think you can see an over-arching theme in these 5 books; they’re all “self-help”/motivational, and while I love young adult fiction (Harry Potter nerd in the house!), and World War II non-fiction, these sorts of reads are exactly what I need in my life rift now.

So, what’s on your reading list? (Ted is working his way through the Game of Thrones series) And what else should I add to my list?!

There are endless amounts of memiors I would recommend. Two of my all time top favorites are Mountains Beyond Mountains and Alive.

Alive is an amazing read and I ready ot less than two days.

For a tear jerker read You Before Me and After You. Both are so inspiring.

I could list so many books. My next book I want to read is Born on the Fourth of Juy.

Miss Molly, my pleasure and definitely read You Before Me and After You and Alive…those are the ones I would read first if you can…

Aside from the books on your list, do you have any recommendations? I have You Are a Badass, and have been meaning to read it, but have struggled to pick it up, not sure why now.

I’m hoping for a chance to read Killing The Rising Sun, by Bill O’Reilly. I liked Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy, and viewpoints aside, his books provide some fascinating insight to major historic events.

16th Seduction, by James Patterson is something I’d also like to read, since I’ve always liked his work. And, I’m sure I’ll stumble over something random that promises to pick at my curiosity.
