This past week, I received an exciting, and unexpected email, inviting me to model some pieces from H&M’s Fourth of July collection on a local news station. Feeling a bit like a celebrity, (I’ve never been on the news, before!) and knowing I actually had the day off from work (for once!) I of course obliged haha
The Collection and the Cause:
H&M has teamed up with Girl Up, a UN program developed in 2010 that works to afford women in developing countries equal social, educational, and health benefits. The Girl Up program also focuses on getting women out of violent situations.
In support of this amazing program, H&M designed a line of both patriotic and girl power apparel for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. The clothing company is donating $1 from the sale of select items to Girl Up now through July 4th.
I highly encourage you to shop this collection not only because the pieces are super on trend, (we were all LIVING for an over-sized denim jacket with the American flag on the back, and this graphic tee that read “Girls Support Each Other”), but also because Girl Up is such an amazing cause. For once, shopping can be somewhat guilt free because you’ll know you’re helping to empower young girls to break down stereotypes, and stand up for gender equality. How badass is that!? *fist bump emoji*
