3 New-To-Me Restaurants I Tried in June

The Greater Cincinnati area boasts an amazing and eclectic food scene and one of my favorite past times is visiting a new spot for date night, brunch with a friend, or drinks with the girlies. Ted and I had a bit of a staycation earlier this month during which time I made it a point to eat my way around the Queen City and try some New-To-Me eateries. Each restaurant I visited offered a different type of fare, had a different kind of vibe but all 3 were delicious, and places I’d highly recommend!

Fireside Pizza

Location: East Walnut Hills, 773 E McMillan Street

Atmosphere: Fireside Pizza resides in an old fire station and I love that they preserved and incorporated details from it’s past into the current restaurant space. Fireside is perfect for casual dining, or quick carry-out.

Our Order: Ted and I got a large Caesar salad which was perfect for 2 people to share. For the main course we each got our own pizza. Ted opted for the 14″ margarita pizza, and I ordered the 9″ Eli’s barbecue pizza without the red onions. Fireside pizza wood-fires their pizzas so the crust was perfectly crispy, and we both enjoyed the sauces, cheese, and toppings on our respective selections.

W Bar+Bistro

Location: Westwood, 3447 Epworth Avenue

Atmosphere: Developed by the owners of Ivory House W Bar+Bistro is self-described as casual dining. The interior is bold, but classic with moody grey walls and dark green accents.

Our Order: Having seen countless photos of the poutine prior to our visit, Ted and I were convinced it was a must try in the starter category. The fries held really well to the flavorful meat and gravy, but we were both left wishing for a bit more cheese. For an entree I enjoyed the nut +berry salad and was very impressed with how fresh, and large it was. Ted indulged in the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese which even after only one stolen forkful I can report was delicious and packed with flavor! We also saved room for a brownie topped with banana and ice cream which wasn’t anything special, but definitely satisfied my sweet tooth.

Good Plates Eatery

Location: Clifton, 235 W McMillan St

Atmosphere: Good Plates Eatery has the most welcoming, quaint interior that feels like you’re hanging out at friend’s house for a quick bite while you hang out and catch up.

My Order: This was a solo lunch date (which was actually really nice and something I should do more often!) and I had the cold fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries garlic parmesan style. You GUYS. This sandwich was just simple, straight to the point GOOD food. There were several other menu items that jumped out, like the best-selling adobo brisket and cheese and the smash burger that have me desperate for my next visit.
