Sometimes I forget that because I started my blog over from scratch there are fundamental posts and pieces of me missing from the archives. For instance, I have a son…a piece of information that isn’t surprising if you know me in real life, or were able to catch my blog post announcing my pregnancy prior to its permanent deletion. Whether you knew it to be true or not, I do indeed have a son, Michael, and he will be turn 9 months old in mid-June. Time is absolutely the thief everyone warned me about.
When I reflect on becoming a mom I often reflect on the mantras I have told myself throughout my journey. The following sayings are words I speak to myself when things get hard, or when I simply need a reminder of the amazing job I am doing operating in this new role and as this new version of myself. To all the mamas out there, I hope you will speak them to yourself when you need them, too:
Mantras for Mamas:
“It’s okay to ask for help. You are not an inconvenience, and no one expects you to do it alone. Speak your needs, and seek support.”
“You’re doing great. Your success as a mom is not measured by how clean the house is or how much you’ve checked off your to do list. Adjust your expectations, and give yourself grace.”
“You know what’s best for you and for your baby. Every decision made from the heart, and with you and your baby’s best intention in mind is the best and right decision.”
“The day your baby was born so were you. You are not the same person you used to be so do not pressure yourself to be an old version of yourself. Learn to love this new one.”
